For more information on things to see and do in Katoomba, visit the Visit NSW Katoomba page.
Alight at Bowenfels and be part of the Bowenfels 150th celebrations!
Bowenfels opened following the completion of the Zig Zag Railway in 1869 and was, for a brief period, the last stop on the line for trains travelling west from Sydney over the Blue Mountains.
Enjoy this rare opportunity to explore the Bowenfels station precinct and enjoy the historical displays, entertainment and a commemorative ceremony hosted by Lithgow City Council.
Following the ceremony, you will need to return to the town centre of Lithgow for the return train journey to Sydney compliments of Lithgow City Council who will be operating two shuttle bus services for your convenience:
Route 1: Lithgow Heritage Shuttle
Explore one of several historical sites, museums and galleries in Lithgow including the Small Arms Factory, Eskbank House, Blast Furnace Historical Site and State Mine Heritage Park (entry fees at own cost), before returning to Lithgow Station.
Route 2: Direct bus service back to Lithgow Station
Take a short 5-minute ride back to Lithgow where you can then enjoy the town at your own leisure before boarding the return train trip to Sydney from Lithgow Station.
You must allow enough time to ensure you’re back at Lithgow Station by 2.45pm for the 3.00pm return train journey to Sydney.
